QUT Links

  • Student Guild - provides various facilities and programs on all campuses which enable QUT Staff to engage in Wellness promoting activities, including the Student Guild Fitness Centres and Student Guild Aquatic Centre.
  • Human Resources Department - a helpful resource for finding information across the HR website e.g. Health and Safety and the Employee Assistance Scheme
  • Counselling Service - The Counselling Service provides a professional, confidential and free counselling service to students. QUT staff members can attend in emergencies and to source information, self help material and advice about other sources of assistance. Except in emergencies, QUT staff will be limited to one session per year at Counselling Services. QUT staff may choose to access QUT's Employee Assistance Scheme.
  • Health Services - QUT's Health Services Medical Centre provides quality health information, advice and medical services to QUT students and staff.
  • Chaplaincy - Chaplains are available on campus to help with your personal needs, pastoral care and the services of the church. The chaplaincy centres are available to people of all faiths for quiet prayer, worship services and prayer meetings.
  • Life Care - LifeCare Campus Physiotherapy and Massage treat and manage back, neck and spinal pain, sports, study and work injuries. We can also provide extensive preventative advice and management for current or past injuries and performance enhancement. Acupuncture is also available.
  • Health Faculty Clinics - Kelvin Grove Campus
    • The services of the Human Movement Studies Clinic include a physical activity program for children, clinical gait analysis, balance assessment and training, exercise prescription and reappraisals, body composition assessments and school testing visits.
    • In the Optometry Clinic students conduct free eye examinations under the direct supervision of fully qualified optometrists. All clients receive a comprehensive eye examination, including a careful history, discussion of symptoms, measurement of vision and assessment of visual requirements.  Full dispensing of spectacles and contact lenses is available at the Clinic at competitive prices. 
    • The Podiatry Clinic provides advice on foot care and footwear for all age groups, conducts assessments of walking and running styles (gait analysis), and provides a range of surgical services for common foot conditions.

To ensure a healthier work - life balance the QUT Wellness Matters Program encourages all QUT staff to engage in Wellness behaviours throughout their daily life.

  • American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) - (newsroom, publications, health and fitness information, conferences.)
  • American Holistic Health Association (AHHA) - 'AHHA is the leading national resource connecting people with vital solutions for reaching a higher level of wellness' (resources, self-help articles, feature article of the week, get well(ness) messages, e-mail reports.)
  • Authentic Happiness - The website of Dr Martin Seligman (questionnaires, newsletter.)
  • Best of Health (Stress reduction program, Depression program, Drinkwell program, Eat smart, daily energisers, Asses your health, Quit smoking.)
  • Healia - This site is a personalised consumer health search engine. It can find health information on the Web. It was developed under a Small Business Innovation Research award from the National Cancer Institute, USA.
  • Healthworks - Australian company with Ken Buckley as Managing Director. (wellness services, products, assessments, expos, newsletter.)
  • Human Resources Institute (Director Judd Allen) -This site explains key concepts and tools that have been useful in bringing about lasting and positive workplace culture change (surveys, training, videos, software, books and journal article reprints.)
  • Karen Wolfe 'The Australian Physician who brings the mind and spirit back into medicine' (Books, tapes, reading lists, articles, healing notes, nutritional and wellness products.)
  • Miller Health - An integrated corporate health management company providing corporate organisations with a range of interactive health management programs, assessments and audits.
  • National Wellness Institute (NWI) 'Founded in 1977, the National Wellness Institute, Inc. (NWI) was formed to realise the mission of providing health promotion and wellness professionals unparalleled resources and services that promote professional and personal growth' (resources, wellness assessment tools, speaker's bureau, annual conference.)
  • Organizational Wellness (Director Joel Bennet) - Organizational Wellness & Learning Systems (OWLS) is a science-based consulting and training service in the area of Integral Organizational Wellness (Organizational Assessments, Integration of Assessment, Collaborative Models, Workbooks/Manuals, Workshops, Trainings, and Retreats.)
  • Outdoors Queensland - This is website that promotes itself as a 'one-stop shop' for anybody interested in the outdoors in Queensland, Australia. A broad range of information and resources relevant to those interested as participants, leaders and instructors.
  • Peertrainer- This site offers the opportunity to join a group that has your health or fitness goal or you can create your own group. The site offers free membership.
  • Speakwell - Dr Martin Collis 'is a wellness educator, a humorist, a writer, a scientist and a singer' (newsletter, Wellness topics, Well-Mart, songs, books, pedometer education.)
  • Summex Corporation (Director Larry Chapman) - A national provider of health management services for large-scale employers. Their wellness programs are proven proactive tools (assessment, coaching, education and incentives.)
  • The Health and Fitness Bookstore - 'provides easy access to the books and resources which will inspire and motivate you to keep yourself fit and healthy to the best of your ability for the rest of your life.'
  • The Institute for Health and Productivity Management (IHPM) - 'The IHPM was created in 1997 to make employee health an investment in corporate success through enhanced workplace performance' (publications, e-news, corporate awards, conferences.)
  • The WorkCare Group - Founder George Pfeiffer a recognised authority on worksite health promotion and total life management. The WorkCare Group provides products and consulting services related to employee support.
  • Wellness Centre - Director is Dr Don Ardell author of the landmark High Level Wellness and nine other books, publisher of the Wellness Report (daily Wellness column, weekly e-newsletter, Ardell Wellness Report 3/year.)
  • Wellness Councils of America (WELCOA) - 'As North America's premier resource for worksite wellness, the Wellness Councils of America is dedicated to helping organizations of all kinds build and sustain results-oriented wellness programs. A national non-profit membership organization dedicated to promoting healthier life styles for all Americans, especially through health promotion initiatives at the worksite' (resources, e-store, consulting and training.)
  • Wellsource- This site provides access to a range of wellness challenges, newsletters, resources and products. It is a company based in the USA and it provides tools to help individuals identify health risks. Some services do attract a fee
